A Visit from Texas

Clockwise: Carol Redford Basso, Julie, Pam Beaman Richards, Sue Pritchett Phillips
Carol Redford recently visited Decatur for her mom's 75th birthday. Happy Birthday Barbara!! (ok so it's a little belated) . . . What a great visit - much too short, as always - but we caught up on some old stuff and new stuff. It's amazing even though there are miles between us and schedules that prevent us from seeing each other like we should (hint, hint, Sue and Pam . . . . ) we still have so much going on that is exactly the same. From teenagers to just plain life. . . we're just trying to get through it! But isn't it a blast!!
I opened the paper today and saw a picture of the old Carson Pirie Scott Building being torn down. http://www.herald-review.com/articles/2008/03/22/news/local/1031134.txt It reminded me of all the trips we used to take in junior high downtown on the city bus. Sue Pritchett and I would meet on the bus, ride downtown, go to Carsons, Libsons, Myers Brothers, Taco Amigo, Musicland, and of course Del's. (Sue remember when we used to lug our french horns on the bus to Woodrow?) There was SO MUCH downtown. Well, a new building will be opening where the old Musicland and Myers Brothers building used to be (also the old K's Merchandise) . . . it will open this summer. But across from it now will be vacant space. For those who come to visit the Decatur Celebration, things will look very different this year. My brother Tim's MHS 1978 Class Reunion will be held this summer - his 30th. Ouch. We're not that far away. Start thinking about it . . . . .
